About The Tucky
Kentucky is a lot more fun than we were told.
I'm Juli-Anne. We moved to Kentucky and made a rule: don't wait to feel settled, explore it like tourists.

A Kentucky Family
Hi, we're the Canterburys, and I'm Juli-Anne.
I'm the person behind The Tucky. We moved from Colorado to Kentucky and decided to explore it like tourists. Outside of this site, I run a marketing company, Chatbox Creative.
Where the name The Tucky comes from
When our daughter was learning to say Kentucky, it came out "Tucky." Every time we visited my parents here, or they came back to see us in Colorado, she called it "The Tucky."
When we moved, the name moved with us.
Now home base is Madison County, and this is where I share the spots that are actually worth your gas money: the trails, the festivals, the tiny restaurants and the long drives. Most are within an hour of home. Some are worth 90 minutes. A few are worth a whole weekend. Bougie on a budget, always family friendly.
How we rate
Two scoreboards, one honest toddler.
The Tucky Score
Every spot gets a Tucky Score out of 5 and one honest question answered, like "Worth the drive?" or "Worth the babysitter?"
Asking Ainsley
Family friendly spots get rated by our head critic (age 3) in cardinals, Kentucky's state bird. She gets the same three questions at every stop: What was the best part? What should Mama eat? How many cardinals?
